My Summer Internship with Kaeme – Sita Hammond

I was apprehensive at the start of my summer internship with KAEME because I assumed that I would spend all my time taking orders and being bossed around, yet the moment I arrived I realized I could not have been more wrong. My experience as KAEME intern was far beyond my expectations. From receiving a warm welcome to learning vital work skills from the whole team, I felt as if I had gained a year’s worth of knowledge during the short period I worked at KAEME.

It felt great to be a part of such a hands-on team where everyone was valued and worked efficiently in their various capacities. Schola, my internship supervisor, oversaw my training and was always careful to address and correct my many mistakes in a gentle yet firm manner.
Other members of the KAEME team did well to impart lessons as I interacted with them. For they helped me sharpen my marketing skills during sales shifts at the Palace Palms Square outlet, and Edmund encouraged me to stay optimistic even at the end of a bad day. The sincere concern of the entire team for my welfare really meant a lot to me.
I am grateful to my Ahaspora mentor for facilitating my summer internship with Kaeme, and I am especially grateful to Freda and her team at KAEME for such a memorable experience. They exemplified the biggest business tip I learned there: “If you want your business to grow then you must make your customers happy, but if you want your customers to be happy then you should make your team (employees) is happy. When they are happy, they will transfer their happiness to your customers.” Joy is infectious you know!
