Kaeme Year in Review
Is it just us or did 2021 feel like a blur? So much has happened in what feels like such a short time, but we are very grateful for all of it. There’s never been a dull moment!
As a wholly Ghanaian brand committed to evoking luxury with each of our products, our greatest pleasure this year has come from creating pleasant memories for you. Whether you started your day with some black soap or a shea soufflé, invigorated your space with a soy candle, showered those you love with a gift set or went on vacation with a toiletry bag, we appreciate all the ways you made KAEME a part of your life. All year long, you’ve inspired us to do what we love with passion.
Our own memories of 2021 fill us with pride and awe because every milestone reminds us of how far your support has brought us. We don’t take any purchase, review or new achievement for granted, and we never get tired of saying THANK YOU for making them happen, #KAEMELovers. Allow us to share some of the amazing things that have given us reason to celebrate this year.
Kaeme Year in Review: Growth
We crossed the 5,000-follower mark on Instagram and welcomed The Lotte, Niche Expressions and Float Wellness Spa in Accra and ShopPuleng.Africa in South Africa to our stockist network. In October, we were delighted to be one of over 260 exhibitors at Mode Heim Handwerk in Essen, the largest consumer fair in Germany’s North Rhine-Westphalia state. We also made a trip to Berlin to meet the entire Manuyoo team who have been awesome since ushering us into the European market last year.
Scholastica Barimah, our retail manager, participated in an e-commerce seminar by GIZ Ghana and DHL Africa as part of our continuous training strategy to ensure nothing but the best service for our #KAEMELovers all over the world.
In March, our founder and chief mixer, Freda Obeng-Ampofo, shared what success means to her as one of Glitz Africa’s “Leading Ladies in Beauty”. She also shared her journey so far as an entrepreneur on an episode of #TheBYouProject by Berla Mundi. KAEME was featured in ShunYaa e-magazine’s “Beauty Must-Haves” and captured on Zoom’s blog as one of five resilient small businesses in celebration of MSME Day 2021.
We met #KAEMELovers in Paris in October, and in Dakar in December to sip, chat and bond over all things KAEME.
In October, Freda waved the Ghana flag (in KAEME colours) in Paris at Ambition Africa, the leading annual Afro-Franco business summit, as a panelist in a discussion on “The African Consumer of the 21st Century: Luxury and Consumer Goods”. In November, she was a speaker at the Choiseul Africa Business Forum in Nice on economic cooperation between Africa and the French Riviera.
Kaeme Year in Review: Sustainability
KAEME’s “Return to Earn” discount program was launched on World Environment Day as our contribution to taking better care of our world.
In August, we partnered other brands for the launch of the Global First Ladies Alliances with “The Future of Women” brunch by The Diaspora Affairs, Office of the President in aid of The END Fund to eliminate neglected tropical diseases. KAEME also partnered Advocates for Community Alternatives (ACA), a US and Ghana-based non-profit, as a technical advisor for a community-led initiative to produce black soap with a community in the Eastern Region of Ghana.
KAEME won the Skincare Brand of the Year award at the Ghana Beauty Awards, and founder/chief mixer Freda was named in the 2021 Choiseul 100 Africa list of future African leaders under 40.
Baby Modupe, the youngest member of the KAEME family, is not only a joyful ray of sunshine but also the reason we were able to donate over 82,806 ml (and counting!) of breastmilk to other babies.
We’ve had quite the year, and we can’t help but look forward to growing bigger and better in 2022. We’ll continue to deliver on our promise to work for a healthier, happier you, so come with us as we do great things together.
We wish you a very merry Christmas and an exciting New Year in advance!
