We recently had the pleasure and privilege of being featured in the latest issue of the International Trade Forum, the quarterly magazine published by the International Trade Centre (ITC), and we would love for you to read it as we continue to share the KAEME story with the world.
Like many small businesses in Africa and beyond, we have spent the last six months riding the wave of a global pandemic while weathering our fair share of storms. In the words of our founder and chief mixer, Freda Obeng-Ampofo, “No one was prepared for COVID-19.” Our International Trade Forum feature highlights some of the actions we have taken over the last few months to assess the work we do, identify what we can improve and get to work on being even more awesome. The ITC crew also toured our production facility for an exclusive look at how Ghana’s premium Shea butter and black soap are transformed into KAEME’s luxury skincare products; sat in on a meeting with our entire team (don’t worry, we all had our masks on); and visited the KAEME store to discover why customers love it so much that they keep coming back. We also put the spotlight on the power of collaboration via our partnership with the Thrive Together Store, a vibrant selection of Ghanaian brands committed to doing business and making social impact.
As earth-shattering as 2020 has been, it has also allowed us to connect with the world like never before by simply staying true to our values. Although we are not out of the woods yet, we are so grateful for all the love and support that has kept us going in these uncertain times. It is one thing to run a business and another to attract a real sense of community to keep it going, and we consider ours invaluable. At KAEME, we do not take any purchase, review, referral or social-media mention for granted, and we continue to explore ways to connect more with customers and deliver exceptional service.
